With our most popular product being small lavender sachets, we started a program of reaching a wide range of customers by contacting potential outlets. So we put together a package with a classic wicker basket containing a whole bunch of sachets, along with with a welcoming sign. Then we went out and approached some potential outlets, asking them to carry our sachets. To our delight, most did, and we now have about a dozen outlets from Colwood to Sidney who are carrying our sachets.

After the winter dormancy, the spikes are starting to grow again, and the plants are now producing a tantalizing aroma when we brush against them. We're now completing the annual weeding of the rows. We have just finished stripping the buds off the stems of this year's crop, using Happy Valley Lavender's special motorized stripper. This is not only really fast but it also gives a cleaner product, with lower levels of leaves and dust. A huge improvement on what we did in previous years, which was to rub and roll the bunches between our hands.
